A Day in the Life
In this exciting role, your primary objective will be to provide global leadership and direction for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental programs and systems that align with Medtronic’s strategic priorities. You will ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and support company-wide environmental sustainability goals.
You will be a key member of the Medtronic Global EHS Team and serve as the environmental leader for Medtronic. You will lead the advancement of the company’s global environmental strategy, working closely with site teams, cross-functional partners, and corporate stakeholders to ensure environmental stewardship and regulatory conformance across Medtronic operations.
This position reports to the Global EHS Director – EHS Centers of Excellence and works collaboratively with functional SMEs, business units, and site EHS teams to implement scalable environmental programs and initiatives.

Set and drive Medtronic’s global environmental strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, stakeholder expectations, regulatory trends, and sustainability priorities
Build and lead enterprise-wide environmental programs by engaging executive stakeholders, aligning cross-functional partners, and developing global policies and standards that scale across manufacturing, distribution, and R&D operations
Partner across business units and enabling functions (e.g., ESG, Real Estate, Quality, Operations, and Legal) to embed environmental considerations into business planning, product lifecycle, and supply chain decision-making
Represent Medtronic in external forums, industry groups, and regulatory engagements related to environmental programs to help shape public policy and industry standards relevant to environmental responsibility and compliance
Anticipate and respond to emerging environmental risks (e.g., climate, water, waste, chemicals) and regulatory changes that may impact the business; proactively drive strategic responses to ensure business continuity and competitive advantage
Support EHS due diligence for mergers and acquisitions; provide support for EHS integration planning and execution to bring new acquisitions into compliance with EHS regulations and conformance with Medtronic EHS standards
Support facilities on compliance gaps and builds capability throughout the organization
Represents environmental compliance on corporate multi-disciplined teams, presenting positions to executive leadership
Support the Medtronic Safety Strategy
Champion a culture of environmental responsibility, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the global organization
Must Haves
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing global environmental strategies
Proven success in influencing senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on environmental initiatives
Robust regulatory and environmental permitting experience including air (i.e., NESHAPs, MACTs, Title V), water, and waste
Nice to Haves
Deployment and implementation of Environmental programs and initiatives across a multinational organization
Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Policy or related discipline
Professional certifications related to safety and environmental such as CSP, CHMM, QEP, or equivalent
Expertise in the environmental domain and strong knowledge and skills in health and safety
Proven track record of strong project management performance with experience driving multi-phase projects to completion including diverse project teams and multiple stakeholders
Experience integrating environmental programs into EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 50001)
Demonstrated experience supporting environmental sustainability strategy
Strong leadership, teambuilding, and influence management skills
Exceptional communication, leadership, and change management skills
Experience with EHS and ESG data systems, metrics, and reporting frameworks
Ability to discern and appropriately communicate sensitive issues
Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to diverse work locations

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$143,200.00 - $214,800.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
