A Day in the Life
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of mechanical test engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enable the team to contribute to design solutions, develop advanced new test methods, measurement techniques, and fixtures.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, timelines, technical risks, and mechanical testing/equipment needs to help drive program execution.
• Drive application of DRM principles and best practices.
• Actively promote employee engagement and help develop a cohesive team culture and drive efficiencies across the MPE team.
• Champion the adoption of best practices and lessons learned to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelors degree required.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.
• Experience with test and analysis of leads, catheters, devices, and or instruments, identifying root causes of failures and proposing design or process improvements to enhance performance and reliability.
Nice to Have:
• Knowledge of lead, catheter, device, and or instrument design, manufacturing, and material property testing, including fatigue testing.
• Familiarity with electromechanical fatigue test frames, FEA software, and design optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Well-developed collaboration skills with proven track record of interfacing between multiple cross-functional partners.
• Ability to influence, make and communicate timely decisions in the face of risk and uncertainty.
• Ability to frame and direct effective and efficient technical trade-off discussion.
• DRM Green Belt certification and or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Lead, direct, organize planning for Annual Operating Plan (AOP) expense budgets and provide monthly budget updates, forecast versus actual. Understand the mechanical testing and equipment needed for projects/programs to plan the Capital Equipment Budget, oversee the purchase and installment of Capital Equipment, and arrange test equipment training.
• Lead, direct and organize resource planning including use of ResourceFirst for organization.
• Experience setting annual objectives for team members, and writing and conducting annual reviews, and actively assessing the department’s needs and gaps.
• Engagement with team members to ensure effective team dynamics and mutual accountability.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$168,800.00 - $253,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
