Here is some of what you can expect from being a Pharmacy Technician Specialist with us:

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Specialist performs functions related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution. These tasks may include but are not limited to non-sterile compounding, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, unit dose drug preparation, delivering medications to patient care areas, checking medication storage areas for outdates, and billing. The Pharmacy Technician Specialist primarily works in one or more specialty areas of pharmacy. Examples: IV room, controlled substance distribution and monitoring, automation, informatics, medication reconciliation. Additionally, the Specialist serves as a lead or subject matter expert in their designated specialty area. They may assist with writing policies, leading committees, implementing changes and improvements in their area of specialty, serving as a staff educator or trainer, oversee projects for the department, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications you will need for this role:

Licensure/Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or national equivalent) with Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Pharmacy Technician Certificate, or Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Provisional Pharmacy Technician Certificate If initially hired with a Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Provisional Pharmacy Technician Certificate, must achieve Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or national equivalent) within 12 months of hire.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: previous pharmacy technician experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: As defined in competencies; ability to work accurately with attention to detail. Possesses communication, teamwork, customer service, computer, problem solving and organizational skills.

Degree of Supervision Required: Minimal. Individual proceeds on his/her own initiative, in compliance with applicable policies, law, regulations, practices and procedures prescribed by his/her immediate supervisor.
