The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION: This role requires both technical and functional SAP knowledge to be an effective liaison between business functional teams and IT This candidate will have a deep technical understanding of the underlying data and application structure in SAP ERP (preferably S/4 Hana) and have strong business process knowledge in functional areas of Supply chain. The candidate has experience in configuration of SAP modules based on business requirements. Additionally, the candidate is well versed in leading business requirements gathering sessions by documenting functional requirements, converting the functional requirements to technical requirements and work with IT solutions delivery teams to ensure successful implementation.


  • Be the SAP technical subject matter expert for IT and Business supply chain groups.
  • Develop strong process knowledge in division supply chain processes and work with Business process manager to identify opportunities for process improvements and standardization.
  • Develop relationships with the business stakeholders and process teams be the go-to person for SAP and Supply Chain related technical solutions.
  • Work with the Business process owners, functional stakeholders and other business teams to ensure that business requirements are accurately documented, high level design documents created, and business test plans are created to reflect the business requirements.
  • Guide business teams on best-practice solutions on SAP ERP and work with IT Solutions Architect and engineering team to develop standardized solution designs
  • Be the technical lead in SAP deployment projects coordinating technical delivery of solutions across SAP and its related technologies like integration, analytics and other 3rd party systems.
  • Work with internal IT teams and external service providers to document solution design documents, create estimates and ensure successful and timely delivery of SAP solutions.
  • Keep knowledge of SAP technology current and identify ways to apply learnings to business problems.
  • Provide input to develop IT strategy and investment plans for the ERP space.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Supply Chain

WORK EXPERIENCE: 5+ years SAP ERP deployment experience in Supply Chain area. Experience with S/4 HANA a big plus


  • Prior SAP deployment experience from requirements to go live stages of the project.
  • Process knowledge of SAP ERP SCM including Material Management, Inventory Planning, Distribution etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead business requirements gathering, business process analysis, data analysis efforts, develop and execute test plans.
  • Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools
  • Self-motivated and results oriented mindset with strong knowledge of project management, software development methodologies
  • Broad understanding of technology and how to connect technology to business problems
  • Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others

TRAVEL: ~25%- 50%
