Under the direction of the Radiology Sr. Nurse Manager, primarily performs a variety of duties including but not limited to, assisting with both the scheduling of the Interventional Radiology patient and the coordination of the IR case pre, intra, and post procedure for both HHI and HNB Campuses. Works directly with Manager to assist with data collection and interpretation of data specific to the throughput of the Radiology patient from the point of scheduling to discharge. Actively collaborates with Manager, IR Charge Nurse, Radiologists, Referring Physician office staff, office managers, and office schedulers to identify opportunities for improvements and enhance communication. Consistently strives to enhance the performance of the IR Scheduling Team and the IR Clerical Staff to improve quality and streamline operations. Holds patient satisfaction as a high priority, maintaining awareness of department specific, as well as hospital wide, patient satisfaction scores. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the department mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standards, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions:

• Communicates effectively with IR team regarding changes in schedules, staffing, patient issues and physician office complaints or concerns.

• Effectively resolves issues with a positive, professional demeanor finding solutions using clear processes and protocols for staff to resource.

• Acts as a resource to the IR Scheduler, Clerical Staff, Technologists, Radiologists, Nurses, patients, and referring physicians.

• Provide guidance to the IR schedulers and Radiology Clerical Staff.

• Proactive in promoting changes, generating ideas and problem solving.

• Able to work independently and handles work flow problems within the department.

• Actively participates in ongoing activities to promote a climate of continual survey readiness.

• Ability to multi-task, problem solves and resolves issues/conflict with little to no impact on the department and prioritizes fluctuating workload and timelines to meet the demands of the position.

• Identifies cost saving strategies and collaborates with staff and physicians positively to achieve goals.

• Performs other duties as assigned


Education, Training and Experience


• High school diploma or equivalent

• Business, clerical, insurance and/or hospital experience

• Medical terminology related to surgical procedures and medical diagnosis

• Previous IR Clerical or IR Scheduling experience required


Skills or Other Qualifications


Experience with hospital systems (Affinity, RMS, Chartmaxx, GE RIS, PACS, SCM)
