You contribute to our success. Every role has an impact on our patients' lives and you have the opportunity to make a difference. We are looking for a dedicated Pharmacy Clinical Specialist like you to be a part of our team.
Our Pharmacy Clinical Specialists work directly with the physicians and patient care teams to ensure that the medications prescribed for patients contribute to the best possible health outcomes. Your frequent and regular interactions with physicians and other health professionals, contributes to better coordination of care.
  • Provide a minimum of two (2) inservices per year on rational medication therapy and medication procedures effectively to health care professionals and patients.
  • Work closely with service line multidisciplinary teams.
  • Serve as the primary facilitator for medication use improvement needs.
  • Actively participate in committee meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge with the particular service standard of practice via medical literature and conferences.
  • Serve as primary preceptor for pharmacy students and residents and fulfill all documentation responsibilities.
  • Actively participate in the provision of training and education to pharmacists including pharmaceutical care and disease state management.
  • Educate healthcare professionals via written publications/newsletters topics of interest on an annual basis.
  • Create national visibility by presenting clinical information/programs such as poster presentations or managed case studies or publishing in nationally recognized journals.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy at a college or university
  • Licensed Pharmacist through the Virginia Board of Health Professions
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification preferred
  • Completion of two (2) years of hospital pharmacy experience; or completion of an ASHP-approved Pharmacy Residency Program
