Intern/Co-Op Engineering 




Position purpose:


  • Work closely with the Project engineering and Maintenance Groups in developing and coordinating projects;
  • Gain experience in project engineering as well as day-to-day work in maintenance on a site of one of the world's leading chemical corporations.


The primary responsibilities of this role, Intern/Co-Op Engineering, are to: 


  • Assist with engineers in development of the project objectives and scope by analyzing customer requirements and producing sketches, drawings, written descriptions or specification for customer approval;
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, engineering procedures, plant safety standards, pressure safety design and environmental standards on all projects; Improve plant safety and enhance environmental performance;
  • Work with facilities and reliability engineers to get an insight into maintenance and reliability improvement programs in chemical plants;
  • Assist mechanical designers in producing the desired installation via computer aided drafting.

Required Qualifications:


  • Enrollment in a bachelor degree program with an emphasis in Chemical, Biochemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or relevant area of study;
  • Completion of Sophomore or Junior year;
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week;
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (GPA must be listed on the resume);
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Physically willing and able to climb stairs and ladders;
  • Willingness to work in a chemical plant environment.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prior experience in a chemical plant environment.
