  • Student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering 1 year from graduating with a MS or PhD degree.


  • The candidate would become a member of the Applied Processes for Manufacturing’s Systems Innovation team and participate on project teams leveraging emerging technologies to deploy state of the art software solutions across Corning facilities in Corning NY. The student would gain work experience in a world class R&D facility supporting of applied research, development, engineering, and manufacturing.


  • The candidate should have completed course work, projects and previous work in the areas of Data Systems Architectures and Software Development that can be applied to manufacturing research and development with areas of focus in Big Data, Scientific Computing, Analytics, Cognitive Computation, Data Visualization, Predictive Analytics, and Decision Support.
  • The candidate should have an interest in pursuing a career in Systems Design and Architectures in support of next generation manufacturing systems and possess strong software skills.

Desirable Skills/Interests

  • Programming – Java, Python, Visual Studio.NET: C/C++, .NET, ASP.NET
  • Computer/Electronics – PC Hardware, OS, Programming.
  • Database – Familiarity with SQL, SQL Server/Oracle, Hive, NoSQL, etc…
  • Systems – Should be comfortable working in a lab environment.
  • Big Data & Analytics – Familiarity and interest in cloud computing infrastructures and Analytics/Deep Learning tools (AWS, Azure, Hadoop, Matlab, JMP, R, Tensorflow, Spark, etc…)

  • Self-starter, motivated, and eager to contribute

Work Hours

  • Monday-Friday 8-5; little to no travel expected
