The Territory Representative-Overlay (ISRII) is a member of the Inside Sales team and will focus on selling companion animal products within an assigned territory that is temporarily vacant. The Territory Representative-Overlay plays a critical role in supporting Merck's customer centric business model. He/she is responsible for working with the Regional Manager that has quota responsibility for the vacant territory to understand and identify veterinary clinic, shelter facility, and corporate account customer needs, by selling Merck Animal Health products, supporting pull-through activities relative to the customer strategy, and ensuring that Merck Animal Health is viewed as bringing value and technical innovations aligned to our strategic focus, the Science of Healthier Animals. In addition, the Territory Representative-Overlay demonstrates the highest level of competency and thoroughly understands the resources available across Merck Animal Health and our Distribution Partners. Performance will be measured on sales goal achievement, as well as targeted promotions and other performance standards consistent with operating objectives.

Travel requirement will vary based on business need, up to 50%.


Education Minimum Requirement:

  • 4 year college degree

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 3 years documented sales experience 
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills 
  • Successful candidate must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to a changing environment

Preferred Experience and Skills: 

  • Experience selling animal healthcare products and services through veterinary and/or shelter channel is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of biological products and the ability to engage in dialogue with medical professionals is a plus. 
  • Understanding and past experience working with distribution. 
  • Able to quickly build trust and rapport with customers. 
  • Good time management and strong organizational skills.
