The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable.  Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible.

Role Purpose:  Ensures the administration of HR programs, processes, and policies for all hourly employees. Establish and reinforce Corning Values and positive work environment, while complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.   Ensures standards and guidelines are understood and consistently applied and adherence to the union contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implements HR programs, processes, policies in compliance with current legal and regulatory policies and assesses them to determine the extent to which they support Corning Values and positive work environment.
  • Supports plant workforce by answering questions regarding benefits, payroll, bidding and HR policies.
  • Recommends areas for standardization of HR programs / processes / policies, as appropriate, to reduce complexity of administration and associated costs.
  • Supports team and department leaders by providing guidance/education on HR policies, answering payroll questions and R-29 records.
  • Supports plant HRM in conducting investigations and conflict resolution (grievances)
  • Builds HR reputation through value-added interactions with customers.
  • Responsible for analysis and reporting of data contained in the HR systems (headcount statistics)

Background/Experience:

  • At least 2 years of HR experience.
  • Associates degree in Human Resources, Business / Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to quickly prioritize and re-prioritize work streams
  • Ability to work across all levels of the organization
  • Computer Proficiency (True Blue, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong analytical/report creating skills (e.g. the ability to query, run reports, sort data and analyze results)
  • Self-Motivated with excellent written and verbal Communication Skills
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
  • Strong Interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:

  • Successful track record in the administration of HR or Business processes or programs.
  • Successful track record in fast-paced work environment (taking initiative, working independently & handling multiple priorities).
  • Broad knowledge of HR policies, processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and Kronos
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements with USW.
  • Extensive knowledge of True Blue, both data and query.
  • Extensive knowledge of Bids and Transfer system.
  • Experience with managing an hourly employee workforce.
  • Knowledge of hourly selection processes.
  • Proficiency with the Time and Attendance System, Kronos.
