Purpose of the Position: Ensures client group(s) have the right number and type of talent required to execute division strategy and achieve desired business results; Ensures client groups realize required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence required to execute business strategy and achieve desired business results; Supports the business HRM in the efforts and initiatives to ensure client groups establish and maintain a positive work environment and operate as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values; Assists business HRM in achieving or beating budgetary objectives in support of top quartile performance objectives while maintaining appropriate level of HR service delivery; Scales the type and level of HR service provided to client groups in anticipation of the specific needs of the business portfolio and in conjunction with the business strategy; Ensures the successful implementation of global HR business processes within the client groups Client groups may include but not limited to IT employees/leaders in US locations, primarily Corning, NY. HRC will partner with HR colleagues across businesses as required. Has leadership responsibility for key projects and initiatives that support business and functional objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and prioritizes current and future talent requirements of the client groups which could affect achievement of client group operational objectives;
  • Partners with business HRM and client business teams to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables them to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps
  • Partners with business HRM to take actions required to address talent gaps, ensuring the business has the right people in the right place at the right time
  • Partners with client group to identify and implement targeted client group and individual development plans that address targeted talent gaps in a timely manner
  • Effectively deploys performance management and rewards processes/practices within client groups to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers
  • Supports business HRM in identifying the client group’s human capital priorities over the next one to two years and the type and level of support required from HR to effectively address these priorities HR Operations
  • Effectively deploys HR shared service delivery model in support of HR transformational goals and required levels of client support
  • Collaborates closely with the business HRM to ensure standardization across regions and divisions and ensure that the type and level of services fully support achievement of division business objectives
  • Collaborates closely with business HRM to ensure legal compliance on HR practices for the client groups
  • Holds client managers and leaders accountable in development and implementation of required programs and processes to establish and maintain a positive work environment
  • Resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that recognizes employee needs and protects the needs of the organization to operate in an effective and efficient manner
  • Oversees employee communications in the organization to keep them informed and engaged of the business, division, regional and corporate endeavors.
  • Specific Position Requirements:
  • Provides HR Generalist support for US client group(s) as well as some Global Support. This position will be responsible for supporting Information Technology business initiatives (30%) as well as providing leadership for HR projects and initiatives (70%).
  • Partner with the IT HR team to lead or help deployment and change management activity for HR programs to include plan development, deliverables, communications and training. Partner with CSM HR team as appropriate to ensure alignment.
  • Manage HR dashboard metrics and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Partner with hiring managers and recruiting COE on job openings and internal movement in support of IT staffing plans. Projects involved with:
  • Compensation – lead IT planning process in support of HR/business teams
  • Talent Planning – support IT talent planning process as required
  • Lead other IT initiatives including but not limited to recognition, training, immigration, global mobility, culture, diversity, leadership presentations, benchmarking, workforce analytics, etc.

Reporting Structure: Solid line to business HR Manager, Information Technology

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development, Labor Relations or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • 5-7 years of HR experience; successful track record of performance in manufacturing plant or HR business partner role
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Exposure to multi-national companies
  • Work experience in designing and implementing effective organization structures and work processes that improve the ability to achieve desired results for the client groups
  • Knowledge of employment laws and policies
