PeaceHealth is seeking a HIM Analyst for a per diem, Day shift position.

JOB SUMMARY

The responsibilities of the HIM Analyst include but are not limited to analyzing health records for completeness, communicating record deficiencies to providers, following hospital protocol and regulatory requirements; document imaging – prepping, scanning and quality control – in hybrid health record systems (electronic and hardcopy), as well as general clerical support to the department; processing birth certificates; storage, retrieval and delivery of health records.  Validation of SER (Schedulable EPIC Resource) provider records insuring the correct set up for distribution of patient records.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.Analyze health record of for completeness by providers and accuracy of information.

2.Notify providers/departments of insufficient completion of health record according to established guidelines.

3.Process inquiries from public, hospital, clinic and providers who wish to access health record.

4.Gather, compile and report required information on births to state Vital Records.

5.Act as a resource to providers on the use of the electronic medical record.

6.Communicates medical record deficiencies to providers.  Utilizes escalation of consequences to non-compliant providers, up to suspension of admitting/clinical privileges.

7.Perform advanced sorting, prepping, scanning, and quality control tasks in support of Document Management.

8.Maintain the electronic health record following legal health record requirements and ensure that standard document management naming conventions are followed.

9.Performs other duties as assigned.

10. Utilizes multiple on-line and CareConnect resources to complete validation of new and existing providers and facilities in CareConnect SER file.

11. Makes phone calls to validate provider demographics for SER file entries.  Sends validated entries are sent to the Security Team for update.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

education:

High diploma or equivalent required.

Medical terminology and clerical coursework required.

experience/training:

Minimum of one year health records, transcription or legal experience in hospital or clinic setting. 

Basic knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.

Basic knowledge of anatomy and/or human physiology.

license/certification:

 

other skills:

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology and various medical specialties as required in area of responsibility.

Knowledgeable in the maintenance and release of health information.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Proficient computer and keyboarding skills including MS Office applications

Proficiency in numeric filing, speed and accuracy necessary.

Demonstrates good judgment and decision making skills.

Strong organizational skills

Multi-task/detail oriented

Good verbal and written communication skills

Honor and maintain a high degree of confidentiality

 

 

REGION/LOCATION SPECIFIC NOTES

PIMC: Assists with record retrieval, maintenance, scanning, indexing and archival as necessary.  May perform general clerical and reception responsibilities as well. Will perform environmental services, security assistance and emergency response duties as needed.  Will perform environmental services, security assistance and emergency response duties as needed.  Requires BART training (de-escalation training) within 30 days of hire.
