  • Effectively manages resources to provide management with actionable information and insight regarding competitive intelligence in Bone.  This includes on-going deliverables as well as leveraging deep dive methodologies such as war-gaming, scenario planning and conference intelligence gathering.
  • Works closely with working team to develop and execute a competitive insights program for Bone. This includes supporting the bPVU with a best-in-class competitive and strategic insights program, to enable winning strategies in launch, differentiation, market access, pricing, indication selection, LCM, beyond the pill solutions asset strategic and tactical early warning and others to be defined.
  • Develops strong working relationship with Amgen colleagues to develop and execute impactful insights in partnership areas.
  • Create consistency with internal Competitive Insights colleagues related to use of methodology, systems and tools through coaching and training.  Ensures best-in-class CI practices by providing consistency for CI related projects on a global, practice, and PVU level, working in collaboration with Practice members with CI responsibilities and other stakeholders in the organisation for CI requirements. This involves consistency with aspects and elements of project design, methodology, vendor selection, and translation of competitive insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Ensuring best-in-class and consistent wargaming practices on a global, practice, and PVU level. This involves consistency in the areas of wargame design, methodology, wargame coordination, wargame leading, translation of wargame outputs to strategy development and pressure testing.
  • Works closely with Head of Knowledge Management & Competitive Insights to ensure systems and tools will evolve Competitive Insights capabilities across the organization.
  • Drives strategic decision making in line with corporate objectives.
  • Develops innovative solutions from complex problems, provides actionable recommendations, and facilitates delivery and execution of workshops and competitive intelligence programs.
  • Monitors the external environment to gain deep expertise in competitive intelligence and research techniques and bring those forward within the organization.
  • Create and embed frameworks that can be utilized throughout the global organization to improve our understanding of the competitive environment and will drive us toward more optimal patient solutions.
  • Provides holistic insight-driven consultation to all levels of internal stakeholders via portfolio-level and key brand competitive intelligence.
  • Executes primary and secondary competitive insights research to clarify issues and reduce risk in decision making for marketed, new, and molecules in development in international markets primarily within the areas of Bone.
  • Develops with their team integrated insights that incorporate an understanding of primary & secondary market research, competitive intelligence, trend watching, and environmental understanding.
  • Oversees the delivery of objective, independent, and value driven insights gained from both primary and secondary competitive research designed to enable fact based decision making.
  • Identifies key areas of integration with the non-brand focused activities, and keenly understands how synergies can be built.
  • Seeks out, assesses, and recommends innovative insights methodologies, information sources, and vendors. 



  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Marketing, Statistics, or related field) required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of global Competitive Intelligence or related experience in pharmaceuticals or consumer products.  Additional experience in innovation, marketing, new product development, and communications a plus.
  • Strong synthesizing skills
  • Strong verbal and written reporting capabilities, including strong presentation skills and fluency with MS Powerpoint.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, including influencing without direct authority, in a highly collaborative matrix environment where flexibility and change management skills are needed.
  • Strong skills to partner and communicate with stakeholders at all levels in the organization.

  • Expert knowledge / understanding of competitive intelligence and statistical techniques as well as project and research design.
  • Some overnight travel, including internationally, required.
