PharMerica Tucson is recruiting a Pharmacy Technician II to join our team.

 

The Pharmacy Technician II will provide pharmaceutical services to long term care residents in a manner that maximizes quality and patient safety.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Types prescription information to produce labels.
  • Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
  • Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system.
  • Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments.
  • Packages medications for dispensing and for delivery.
  • Sanitizes IV room, equipment and hood.
  • Communicates with nursing center personnel and other customers in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
  • Knowledge of Data Entry and / or IV experience is a plus.
  • Travel to Skilled Nursing Home Facilities
  • Replenish automated drug dispensing machines and serve as back-up to the IV tech. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year previous LTC, retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year Business Office experience; including working knowledge of: MS Windows, MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Word
  • Previous HR experience preferred
  • Insurance Adjudicator experience preferred
  • IV experience preferred
  • Pharmacy Technician License in the state of Arizona required
  • Must be available to work rotating shifts 8a-4:30p and 12p-8:30p with weekend rotations
