The Olive Oil Factory is a fast-growing exciting company focused on delivering the highest quality oils, vinegar, and many other food items to our customers. We are looking for a Food Science Technician to join our team and be a part of something great. We have an outstanding career opportunity for a driven, successful, team-orientated technician with a Bachelor's degree (Food Science, Nutrition, or Chemistry) and/or three to five years of related work experience. WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS (ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES): Compile ingredient statements and nutritional information utilizing R&D Food Development & Labeling Software Organize, communicate, and coordinate information and processes related to assorted phases of product development Evaluate and propose alternate ingredients that may be used in existing products, which can lead to better processing or cost savings Drafts raw material and finished product specifications for food for review and approval Assist the Quality Assurance team with the investigation of customer complaints and/or product issues Using current consumer markets, latest technologies, and customer feedback to develop new products and update current products Supports production team on all first production runs, and on subsequent runs, as needed Maintain up-to-date knowledge of USDA regulations, and policies Assist in the development of new products and ship out to customers for review Data collection, recordkeeping, maintaining department databases WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED): BS/BA in Food Science, Nutrition, or Chemistry and/or three to five years of related work experience Basic knowledge of sensory evaluation Adhere to food sanitation requirements, comply with food safety and HACCP requirements Genesis R&D Software-Preferred not required Must be able to work in a very fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Strong organization, prioritizing, multi-tasking, problem-solving skills Must have reliable transportation, be punctual, and maintain good attendance At least 18 years of age
