Recognizes deviations from normal results and informs Study Director, Principal Investigator, and/or management of any problems/deviations that may affect the integrity of the data and participates in corrective action of problems. Plans individual workload in coordination with team members and management. Plans, implements and documents scientific experiments with limited supervision. Identifies problems, determines appropriate actions, and implements solutions with support or independently as appropriate. Able to adapt to new procedures or particular needs as directed. Able to identify critical steps in an assay. Completes all required training courses by deadlines. Trains and assists junior staff May assist in optimizing and validating methods for a variety of matrices Writes text for reports, methods and, or protocols in established format Act as a resource within their team Uses analytical tools for troubleshooting food processes and quantifying analytes in food. Work on multiple developmental projects and routine assays simultaneously while balancing short and long-term priorities. Provides excellent communication in both written and oral data presentation. Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment and utilizes proper PPE. Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner. Provides input and participates in project meetings. Will be exposed to food allergens (ex. Milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc.) Work requires >75% of time in the lab. Travel both domestic and international up to 20% of time, possibility of more travel based on client's needs. Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, food science or relevant field with 2-3 years of experience. Experienced with computers and multiple software programs used to manage experiments, data, report design and instrumental data collection. Knowledge of analytical techniques for near-line process supports and routine samples that includes sugar, color, moisture, water activity, density, brix pH, fat, acidity, sodium and salt. Hands-on experience with pH meter, balance, NIR, YSI, Computrac, Hunter Color, and Laboratory Information Management System is a plus. Knowledgeable in MS Office. An ability to recognize and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation will be important. Ability to plan, implement and document scientific experiments with limited supervision. Effective collaboration with peers, management, scientists, product designers and business leaders.
