Finance Senior Manager

Position Overview: The Finance Senior Manager, Corning Pharmaceutical Technologies (CPT), will provide finance partnership, support, oversight, capital management, modeling, reporting and forecasting for CPT. This role will support the Manufacturing Business Controller, Finance MEC requirements, Division Capital, and is the finance liaison supporting the Corning Pharmaceutical Glass (CPG) Business Director and CPG subdivision.

Purpose of the Position:

  • Lead all aspects of Finance reporting, budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes, as well as capital, financial modeling, data mining and proactively addressing financial challenges.
  • Provide finance leadership/ insight in support of strategic initiatives and projects and operational goals.
  • Ensures the successful implementation of Business Finance programs, processes and procedures in support of function and business strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Active member of a cross functional, decision making, strategy focused, business and functional leadership team.
  • Ensures entity compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles and Corning policies and procedures, and partner with CPT Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Manger on opportunities and improvements.
  • Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee CPG monthly financial close results and reporting, deliver a robust and accurate forecast and weekly pulse.
  • Lead and oversee the coordination and submission of CPG annual budget and long-range planning requirements.
  • Partner with Business Controller on CPP oversight, reporting, annual budget and long-range planning requirements.
  • Manage and oversee CPT Capital, the AR process, and AR modeling.
  • Drive capital planning and cash capital forecasting engage in balance sheet planning to maximize and drive metrics key metrics.
  • Become Capricorn SME for Planview, Stage Gate, and BCV.
  • Ensure controls are in place to monitor financial process and make necessary corrections to ensure risks are identified, managed and controlled.
  • Identify and achieve ways to minimize variation in finance processes and systems; build processes that work more efficiently and effectively, faster and/or at a lower cost.
  • Provide analytical support and communication of key financial information and business insights, leveraging advanced analytics.
  • Engage with project teams to provide financial insights to facilitate the timely and efficient execution of strategic program initiatives and capital projects.
  • Lead, develop and manage direct and indirect finance team members.
  • Implement and ensure business adherence to internal finance controls including data and reporting standards and compliance procedures (e.g., Sarbanes Oxley regulations, internal and external audits).
  • Designs Finance programs, processes, and procedures (e.g. closing, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, inventory tracking) that enable improved cycle time and better decision making in support of the achievement of corporate, function and business goals and objectives.
  • Serving as a bridge between CPT FP&A and CPT Finance to ensure clear communication of financial plans / forecasts / results.
  • Drive ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Partner with regional financial leaders and/or plant controllers to lead and train their planning of metrics, variance analysis, etc.
  • Lead the assessment and execution of financial planning and analysis activities to identify risks and opportunities to Corning's financial objectives (consolidated reporting of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow for monthly closings, COR, and other Senior Management events/reviews.)
  • Contributes to and coordinates development and evaluations of current and alternate financial plans to ensure alignment to Corning's objectives.  
  • Provides finance expertise and decision support to business leaders in support of the division strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Supports regional strategy teams, capacity planning decisions, business planning and execution.
  • Supports Business Director, CPG (dotted line). Engagement with CPG Business Team. • Supports Manufacturing Business Controller, CPT and CPT Financial Leadership. Supports CPP subdivision for Capital and as needed.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • 12+ years of professional experience in Finance, Accounting, or related field • Plant Controller or Manufacturing experience (within or outside of Corning)
  • Supervisory experience in managing a cohesive team and collaboration across functional areas.

        Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical, financial & mathematical skills. Analytical aptitude for understanding, planning, diagnosing, and executing financial plans/problems/opportunities.
  • Experience modeling and performing predictive analytics to review complex financial and operational analysis and scenarios, creates and implements process improvements.
  • Strong Microsoft Office computer skills (excellence in using excel is expected).
  • Experience supporting and advising assigned areas on risk and opportunity considerations, leveraging analytical techniques as well as knowledge of outside trends and events
  • Experience synthesizing critical information into a clear business case narrative and facilitating presentation material preparation
  • Experience in managing a cohesive staff and collaboration across functional areas.

  • Able to organize presentations in a way that ensures the audience understands financial terminology, concepts and the key message.
