Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

• Specify, procure, install, debug and qualify process equipment in state of the art factory including thin film deposition equipment in support of MEMs fabrication.

• Scale up from low volume development to high volume cassette to cassette processes.

• Define critical aspects of equipment such as spares quantities, maintenance requirements and setup documentation.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Recommend improvement modifications to existing equipment and continuously improve process equipment uptime, utilization and capacity.

• Helps to build equipment and process engineering infrastructure in world class MEMS pilot plant.

• Works both individually, and through technicians or vendor reps to drive selection, installation, repair and improvement of equipment/process performance.

• Helps drive and implement improvements to continually enhance equipment and processes.

• Can be called upon to consult or engage in problem solving activities. Interface with managers, vendors and consultants.

• Assumes responsibility for establishing/maintaining teamwork and open communications within the department.

• Performs as project overseer for upgrades, installations, and modifications.

• Collects and analyzes data from a wide variety of sources, develops action plans to resolve long term and/or reoccurring equipment failures based on equipment historical.

• Evaluates equipment repair and preventive maintenance procedures, makes recommendations and generates documentation designed to provide improvement on the work processes.


Travel Requirements (please note if international): 10 -15% Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 plus hours to support 24 by 7 operation


Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

• MS/BS Engineering, Material Science


Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

• Candidate will have a variety of experiences with process equipment in semiconductor or MEMs fabrication (thin film deposition, custom processing equipment).

• Experience scaling from development to high volume manufacturing

• Experience sustaining and developing equipment and processes on vacuum/plasma equipment.

• Demonstrated capability solving complex equipment / process problems.

• Experience in developing control hardware and/or software for machines.

• Experience in utilizing, repairing and modifying the machines.

• Experience in generating SPC data and tracking.


Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)

• Lean,Six Sigma, SPC, DOE

• MEMs

• Clean room protocols.

• Fabrication of thin film structures or devices.

• Demonstrated small team/lab leadership experience.
