Environmental and Safety Intern 






The primary responsibilities of this role, Environmental and Safety Intern, are to: 


  • Assist with the implementation and management of ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 management system audits including: conducting audits, identification of gaps/action items and tracking and follow-up of action items;
  • Assist in the management of the Hazardous and Residual Waste Management Programs including: conduct periodic audit, surveys, and inventories, update waste tracking spreadsheets, prepare period waste reports, characterize waste streams by manufacturing areas and recommend waste reduction techniques, recycling strategies;
  • Participate in chemical audits/surveys including: develop a listing of hazardous chemicals on site; review spill response adequacy (kits, equipment, etc) and help identify proper HES management techniques.
  • Assist in self-assessment/audits including: assist with the preparation and execution of HES self-assessments; prepare action item registry; assist with the follow-up of recommendations and Assist with the closure of action items, track status of action items;
  • Participate in process and plant safety management including: assist with the site’s Process and Plant Safety.

Required Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in a four (4) year college degree program with courses in environmental/safety engineering or management. Course work should include environmental and/or safety regulations;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Computer skills required:  MS Office (word, excel, PowerPoint);
  • Must have the ability to read, and write English and perform mathematical calculations;
  • Demonstrated ability in the following skill areas: commitment to task, adaptable/flexible and dependable, self-managing, motivating skills and decision making versatility.
