Scope of Position:

• Work under the Equipment Engineering Department Head to support the design of mechanical and electromechanical components in a plastics manufacturing facility.

• Help develop specifications and methods and conduct testing to evaluate prototype equipment functionality and capability.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Provides input for the design, development, implementation and analysis of technical systems.

• Researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators

• Perform equipment engineering design evaluations.

• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, information and trends

• Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

• Identifies and implements alterations to current equipment to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

• Provide technical assistance in installation and maintenance of company equipment.

• Provide mechanical drawings in SolidWorks for components being fabricated in Machine Shop.


Travel Requirements:

None Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: M-F, 8am-5pm, support off shift as needed


Required Education:

• At least one semester of core engineering course work completed, Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.

• Working towards a four-year degree.

• GPA > 3.0


Required Skills:

• SolidWorks understanding (or similar program)

• Proficient in all MS Office programs

• Hands on skills to work on equipment to build and repair


Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies

• Hands-on experience with experimentation techniques (design, execution, analysis, documentation)
