PeaceHealth is seeking a Electronic Health Record Support Specialist for a 1.0 full time equivalent Non-Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 10 Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

Facilitate the effective use of available information technologies as part of the Informatics Department through support, education and coordination. Integrates the learning needs of caregivers into their one-on-one support based on defined system work flows and processes.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Participates as the primary, at-the-elbow Informatics resource for caregivers and providers to support the appropriate and effective use of the electronic health record (EHR).
  2. Collaborates with the Informaticists, Physician Champions and other expert users in support of caregivers and providers. 
  3. Incorporates adult learning principles and contemporary teaching strategies into training and support.
  4. Supports end users in one-on-one at the elbow.  Assess gaps in caregiver knowledge and reinforce training materials and workflow processes.
  5. Supports regional departments to promote sharing, collaboration, to support PeaceHealth strategies and meeting training needs.
  6. Acts as a liaison between caregivers and providers with Informatics, Clinical Education, IST, Analysts, Security, and the Clinical Service Desk, in support of caregiver and provider needs. 
  7. Collaborates with Learning and Development and clinical units in the initial system training and usage for new system users.
  8. Collaborates with local operational leaders to identify and assist caregivers and providers who request support or are identified as requiring additional support. May include accessing patient records in real-time to investigate documentation issues that are causing immediate patient care/movement concerns.
  9. Supports communication about EHR changes, upgrades, downtimes, and other events affecting use of the EHR to operational leaders, caregivers and providers.  application changes.
  10. Collaborates with operational leaders and Learning and Development in identification of education needs related to the EHR.
  11. Documents audits and tracking of end user issues and concerns, build requests, resolution of issues and escalate to expert user or help desk as appropriate.
  12. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of a certification in a clinical discipline (Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, etc.), or information technology or related field.

 

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Minimum two years' in a hospital or outpatient environment with experience utilizing an EHR (or may have equivalent combination of education and/or experience).

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Completion of a certification in a clinical discipline (Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, etc.), or information technology or related field.

 

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analysis/problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of computer applications.
  • Excellent, facilitation and teaching skills.
