Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Support all Plant Safety programs and continually provide a safe working environment.
  • Serve as a resource for troubleshooting of production equipment/processes in the Batching facility.
  • Support new product development and develop systems to sustain performance.
  • Support and/or lead projects in Dry Blend with internal resources and external resources that will enable the Dry Blend to meet its goals and objectives. (rate improvement, process and equipment improvement projects)
  • Design and execute experiments with safety and quality controls.
  • Analyze data to define systems and processes to improve performance, quality and repeatability.
  • Back up support for the Dry blend Supervisor, responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Direct subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups.
  • Provides supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, and checking work at frequent intervals.
  • Work with trades personal troubleshooting and correcting process / equipment issues

Travel Requirements: 

Occasional to equipment suppliers

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 

40+, Monday – Friday: typically 7:00AM – 4:00PM. Support for 12 hour production days as required. Occasional off-hour troubleshooting and experiment support

Required Years and Area of Experience: 

BS or MS in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Ceramic/Materials Engineering or 10+ years' mechanical or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent military experience

 Required Skills:

  • Strong fundamental understanding of basic engineering principles and the ability to apply them in solving manufacturing problems
  • Technical aptitude conducive to building proficiency in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and evaluating manufacturing data
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues effectively
  • Demonstrated experience with hands-on troubleshooting mechanical equipment
  • Excellent people skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to grasp technical details and understand impacts of the process and requirements for successful performance/quality organization.

 Desired Skills:

  • Experience with MS-Access, MS Excel, SPC Excel, and its application for analyzing process data and integrating with other programs to enhance process knowledge and capability
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC project experience
  • Lean error proofing training/experience
