JOB SUMMARY

Supports, organizes, and provides quality patient care services as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Safely operates the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Drives to locations as defined. Guides and provides destination set-up and breakdown at clinic session end. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of employment
  • Valid Georgia Class B commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement

EXPERIENCE*

  • 2 years of experience in customer service support in a clinical setting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Experience as an emergency medical technician, paramedic, or firefighter

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Must maintain eligibility to operate Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta vehicles per policy 5-12, “Drivers’ Policy for Children’s Owned Vehicles”
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Georgia Department of Transportation regulations
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and confidentiality in handling of sensitive information
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Operates/drives the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Van in a safe manner.
  2. Manages complete set-up and take down of mobile clinic at locations as identified.
  3. Follows all safety processes.
  4. Works as an empowered employee within established guidelines, procedures, and protocols to provide administrative support for the care, welfare, safety, services, and security of the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile van personnel, visitors, patients, and property.
  5. Maintains and appropriately uses vehicle and equipment, including daily checks and emergency equipment.
  6. Assists clinical staff as indicated, i.e., greeting patients and obtaining vital signs.
  7. Documents activities as appropriate.
  8. Remains current on security, transportation, and professional issues through readings and self-study.
  9. Implements appropriate security and safety measures and performs regular safety drills, aligning with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and school district safety standards.
  10. Ensures cleanliness, maintenance, and organization of Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Van.
  11. Interviews patients and families to obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information.
  12. Ensures that all necessary questionnaires and forms are completed according to pre-determined requirements by government or regulatory agencies.
  13. Enters data into system for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation in a fast, efficient way to minimize patient wait times.
  14. Confirms insurance coverage and obtains authorizations if applicable.
  15. Explains regulatory financial requirements to patient or responsible party and collects and posts deposits or deductible amounts as required.
  16. Schedules patient appointments when needed, including referrals from faxes, phones, or other instructions.
  17. Contacts physician offices to resolve discrepancies.
  18. May initiate and perform multi-tasked administrative duties to ensure efficient daily business operations, including participating in opening and closing procedures and assisting with maintaining, ordering, and restocking clerical supplies.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

 

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.
