Purpose of the Position: The Division Quality Systems Leader will provide central quality professional direction and support the division quality systems. Develop and improve quality systems, including change control, corrective and preventive actions, and customer complaints. The quality systems implemented must enable IATF 16949 in the manufacturing and ISO9001 at the division level. Understanding of European auto standards is also needed to enable supporting the contract manufacturing audits. Maintain quality metrics. The position will ensure sites are properly managing and supporting customer audits, IATF 16949 audits and VDA 6.3 audits when needed.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:  Develop, implement, and improve Quality System’s for AGS, including interior and glazing. The system must support CM (Contract Manufacturing) sites, Corning sites and a global division.  Development and implementation of training on Quality System’s programs and procedures  Ensure communication of audit deficiencies, receipt of corrective/preventive actions, and timely closure of actions and effectiveness checks.  Assure that all activities performed are in compliance with ISO, GMP’s, Corporate and Unit SOPs  Work with research & development teams for new processes and product development and introductions.  Job requires periodic travel to Corning, customer and vendors locations globally for to support system development, audits, CM (Contract Manufacturing) development and employee development.  Develop a plan and process to move from a paper system an electronic system and determine when appropriate.  Manage the QMS of the division integrating both the manufacturing and business processes into the system as appropriate.  Ensure management review occurs as needed and support follow ups from the management review.  Leadership of the customer complaint system and coordinating the Corrective Action/Preventive Action system  Ensure training of all functions occurs.  Manages internal auditing program; schedules, plans, and completes audits, and verifies effectiveness of corrective actions; selects, trains, and reviews performance of lead auditors and audit teams.  Support division QM in developing product quality architecture. Competencies:  Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or direction  Must be capable of prioritizing time to handle multiple assignments and to interact with product teams.  Must have good oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with executive staff, office support and production employees.  Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, possess excellent organization and problem solving skills  Leadership and decision making capabilities are expected to accomplish department objectives  Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications, and database creation and maintenance  Must demonstrate initiative in keeping the activities of the complaint process, CAPA system, and audit system up to date.  In-depth knowledge and understanding of ISO9001-2015, IATF 16949, and VDA 6.3.  Understanding of the 8-D Problem solving process.

 

Education & Experience:  Bachelor degree in Engineering, or science, Math or Statistics.  At least 6 years manufacturing experience, with at least 5 year in a quality role.

 

Required Skills: Ability to work in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities o High sense of urgency with ability to manage multiple priorities. o Work collaboratively in a team environment. o Manages time and priorities o Automotive experience and/or touch panel experience. o Experience with IATF 16949, TS 16949 and ISO 9001. o Able to develop and teach Quality System processes.

 

Travel Requirements:  25% travel, some international. Reporting Structure:  Report to Division Quality Manager. Direct reports:  1 direct report within the next year.
