Description Summary

This position is responsible for Blue Cross’ corporate marketing and advertising, including brand management and marketing operations. This position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and partners across the organization. This position is responsible for B2B, B2C and D2C marketing, including a renewed focus on the consumer/member on a one to one level. This position is responsible for the overall marketing and advertising budget and plans, and leads the execution of all internal and external marketing campaigns..


Accountabilities


  1.  Develops and maintains annual and three-year corporate marketing plans that complement the segment, sector, and strategic plans.

  2. Develops and manages a robust marketing strategy and plan that drive brand and product awareness across the product lines and enterprise. Ensure plans are completed and communicated in timely fashion.

  3. Manages product level advertising, sets appropriate goals, and ensures marketing team is aligned to meet goals at the product and segment level.

  4. Leads corporate marketing department and creates a culture that aligns with the company’s mission and vision. Inspires the team to reach beyond their bounds and to achieve their full potential.

  5. Leads marketing and branding work across affiliates.

  6. Responsible for corporate marketing budget. Ensures that budget aligns with marketing plan and funds are allocated appropriately to meet enrollment and awareness goals.

  7. Collaborates with sales and product leadership on the development of product sales strategies and leads the “go to market” launch plans. 

  8. Directs Blue Cross’ external advertising agency (agencies) in researching, developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of corporate brand and product advertising campaigns.

  9. Monitors advertising campaigns / product promotion and provides regular status updates to stakeholders. Ensures promotional efforts and spend align with success measures as set by the marketing plan.

  10. Responsible for brand stewardship — advancing brand positioning, strategy and compliance throughout the organization to enhance our market position and collaborates with business units across the organization—including operations and customer service to help create a consistent and seamlessly integrated brand experience.

  11. Directs the marketing department including interviewing and hiring employees following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines and ensures employees receive the proper training. Conducts performance evaluation, and is responsible for managing employees, including skill and career development, policy administration, discipline, employee relations and cost control.


Requirements


  • Accepting this director level position at BCBSMN requires signing an Agreement Regarding Non-Disclosure of Confidential Information and Non-Competition as a condition of employment.

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 year’s experience within a service industry—health plan and care delivery experience important.

  • 5 years management experience that includes staff management experience.

  • Expert knowledge in the areas of marketing strategy, brand, advertising, product promotion, sales channels, communications planning and client relationship management 

  • Proven brand management experience; ability to build and manage brand image as a corporate, statewide, and national leader.

  • Must have experience working in a large matrix management organization with profit and loss responsibilities.

  • Demonstrated communications skills (oral and written).

  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience.

  • Proven record of pertinent accomplishments and expertise.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with a diverse workforce.

  • Effective negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Strong critical and systems thinking skills.


Preferred Requirements


  • Advanced degree desirable.

  • Experience in MN markets desirable.

  • Relevant health plan experience desirable.
