Salary Range: $75.69 To 89.00 Annually

  • Perform leadership functions including selection, scheduling, training, performance management and discipline. Instill passion in assigned staff for NSHC's mission, vision, and values, paying particular attention to the maintenance of a safe and productive work environment.
  • Demonstrate personal initiative and accountability while overseeing the department's budget. Forecast needs, allocate resources and/or take corrective action as necessary.
  • Direct pharmacy staff to ensure that the proper medication and dosage is prescribed and that there are no ambiguities in the physician's order and recommend medication changes to physician when necessary.
  • Ensure medication is dispensed according to law and current standards of quality patient care as required by the State Board of Pharmacy, joint commission, Federal DEA, and the Board of Health.
  • Direct strict cost containment measures in ordering and maintaining pharmaceutical stock, maintain records of controlled drugs received and used in the pharmacy. Process and log the incoming pharmaceutical stock orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge:

Job Specific knowledge is listed below:

  • Above average knowledge and understanding of the principles of Pharmacotherapy, pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding procurement, distribution, inventory and management of prescription and nonprescription pharmaceuticals
  • Knowledge of drug utilization and compounding standards and regulations
  • Joint Commission requirements for Critical Access hospital pharmacy
