Position Summary:


COH is seeking a dynamic individual with clinical simulation expertise to lead healthcare simulation programs throughout Alaska including rural and remote communities. The incumbent oversees a team of simulation specialists who work with University faculty and community partners to develop and deliver simulation based clinical training. Target audiences include undergraduate & graduate students, practicing professionals, educators, and faculty from all healthcare disciplines. The incumbent will lead development, delivery, and expansion of interprofessional curricular and co-curricular activities in which students and health workers from two or more professions learn with, about and from each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in simulation in healthcare education in a variety of programs/levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting performance standards, developing metrics, and in program evaluation.
  • Ability to inspire change and ability to be visible and comfortable in urban, rural, and frontier communities and across the care continuum.
  • Advanced knowledge of training principles, content development, equipment, and methods.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare simulation, human physiology, medical terminology, and healthcare services.
  • Knowledge of grant writing processes.
  • Knowledge of program assessment, program evaluation, and performance improvement.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mediate conflicts and motivate.
  • Ability to identify, organize, plan and allocate resources.
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to gather and analyze needs assessment information from dispersed facilities.
  • Ability to communicate/network with outside organizations, staff, and professional groups.
  • Ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Typical Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience with direct patient care.
  • Minimum of two years providing simulation education.
  • Experience with managing staff, programs, and budget.
  • Required Education/Training:

    Master's degree in education or a health care field and five years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Preference off master's degree in a clinical health field (nursing, medicine, or closely related field)

    Certified as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or eligibility to become certified within one year of appointment.

    Assignment Information:
    This is a full-time, Grade 82, minimum $72,363 yearly, DOE, 12-month position complete with a competitive salary and UA employee benefits package. Salary will be based upon level of education, training and experience.
