SUMMARY

The Director of Social Services and Admissions administers and develops the Social Services Department and the Admissions Department.  This includes overseeing each admission to the facility, assessing the social work and discharge planning needs of the facility patient population, planning/directing department services, and recruiting/retaining professional and support personnel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develops departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and scope of services provided.
  2. Interviews job applicants, hires, and discharges personnel.  Prepares and communicates employee performance appraisals.  Recommends wage increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Ensures accurate completion/authorization of timecards.  Resolves grievances.
  3. Directs and supervises department personnel in the operation of the department.  Directs and supervises professional staff who provide admission screening, discharge planning, and medical social services.
  4. Assigns responsibilities and case load to each individual employee.
  5. Administers the department’s quality management and improvement activities.
  6. Prepares an annual budget per administrative policy and procedure.
  7. Directs the preparation of departmental service statistics and reports.  Monitors trends in demand for services and capacity to provide them.
  8. Represents the department to Administration, at other RHC facilities/departments, in management meetings, committee meetings, and to outside health care or social work facilities.
  9. Collaborates with administration and other departments and organizations to develops and plans new programs or services to meet the needs of patients.
  10. Represents department to Administration, at other PH facilities/departments, in management meetings, committee meetings, to outside health care facilities or social work facilities, and vendors. Maintains good public relations with community services and other PH facilities/departments.

Performs administrative requirements, such as competing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submits such to the Administrator as required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • License in Social Work or Clinical Social Work from the State of Illinois.
