The Investor Relations (IR) team serves as the interface between Merck and the investment community, working regularly with executive management in communicating Merck’s key messages in a consistent and strategic manner while monitoring and presenting the view of the investment community regarding the company’s performance.

This individual will be responsible for collaborating with the IR team in developing and executing the global investor relations program. This will include helping develop corporate messages, presentations and analyses in support of quarterly earnings, investor conferences, medical meetings along with other investor events. This individual is expected to serve as liaison for day-to-day inquiries from investors and sell-side analysts; monitor and analyze trading data, industry trends, along with peer company performance. To perform these activities, this individual will need to collaborate across multiple functional areas in the company to ensure alignment in messages for external audiences

Responsibilities include: 
  • Ensure investors and analysts have accurate depiction of company by effectively communicating Merck messages along with addressing questions from investors and analysts in professional manner in line with company and regulatory agency policies. 
  • Work with the IR team in collaboration with others in the organization to: 
    • Develop written materials, such as key messages and Q&A for use on quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, medical meetings and other key investor events. 
    • Develop appropriate strategies for analyst discussions in preparation for and in reaction to earnings releases and other significant events.
    • Understand potential changes to budgets and forecasts and proactively assess potential impact from IR perspectives. Perform adhoc analysis as needed for IR to gain better understanding of key metrics and drivers for the Company and how these compare to sell-side and buy-side perceptions 
  • Ensure IR team is appropriately and timely prepared for medical conferences, data publications along with other events of interest to investment community. 
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Merck’s products, business, competitors and financial markets to assist in representing Merck to Investment community. 
Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement: 
  • Bachelor degree

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Minimum of five years of experience in investor relations, finance, planning and development for a public company, consulting agency or financial institution 
  • Superior intellect and strong interpersonal and relationship management skills. 
  • An insatiable appetite to learn and a proficiency in anticipating and resolving problems. 
  • Outstanding communication skills, financial and investment analysis skills, and presentation ability. 
  • Superb writing skills and ability to combine scientific/technical and financial expertise to craft and communicate corporate messages and strategies. 
  • A clear and thorough understanding of the financial modeling techniques used by security analysts to project a company's operating and financial performance and the resulting value for its stock. 
  • An in-depth understanding of the global financial and investment markets. 
  • An energetic, efficient and resourceful team player and individual contributor. 
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, highly stressful and uncertain environments. 
  • Ability to effectively work within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience and Skills: 

  • Experience in healthcare 
  • IR experience for a public company or relevant market experience on the sell-side or buy-side
