Administers the technical performance carried out by Facility, Media Services, Safety, Contractor and service personnel. Acts as project coordinator, administers and directs programs to maintain buildings, grounds and equipment and to procure or generate all utilities and their distribution systems; coordinates these activities with other departments to insure safe and effective operation while keeping with Core Values and Standards of Performance.



  1. Promotes and maintains inter-departmental harmony and effective working relations.
  2. Assists in the design, development, planning, bidding, construction and tracking of all construction projects.
  3. Designs programs and correlates preventative maintenance systems and departmental computers with departmental personnel. Coordinates implementation and follow up of activities.
  4. Completes and manages departmental reports, capital expenditures, and operating/ FTE budgets.
  5. Maintains records on all activities performed in this division as required by applicable policies, standards and codes.
  6. Incorporates safety principles into all aspects of job description. Identifies opportunities to improve safety associated with job description.
  7. Attends annual in-service for the hospital’s fire, disaster, infection control, and safety program and participates according to position held for in the plans.
  8. Develops and maintains professional contacts and remains abreast of developments in areas of responsibility, including consultants and professional organizations.
  9. Tracks and monitors all capital expenditures for the facility.
  10. Understands the basic usage of the National Incident Management System and complies with training as required for this position.
  11. Attends decontamination team training, and participates in all emergency preparedness exercises and code orange drills, responds to all code oranges as active team member (SMEMC Campuses only).

    Education and/or Experience                                                              

    :  Five years general maintenance, construction, remolding experience with a minimum of five years in supervisory capacity. In addition to graduate from a college or university with a degree in Engineering preferred. Substitution of 10 years experience in a Healthcare setting for education acceptable.


    Computer Skills                                                          

    Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.

    Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
