Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

• This position is as the primary technician responsible for the CSM Gorilla Glass Lamination Lab

• This lab not only supports Gorilla Glass programs, but also is deeply involved in other programs in EIG and other parts of Corning

• The position requires strong technical curiosity and problem-solving skills related to both off-the-shelf and internally-developed lamination process equipment and materials, a desire for technical leadership, and a process and safety mindset


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Process development, sample fabrication, and tracking

• Interface with programs in CSM and elsewhere

• Individual and team interactions on safety, maintenance and project objectives

• Workstation ownership, light programming (setup), debug / problem resolution


Travel Requirements (please note if international):

• Minimal, but occasional domestic and/or international travel possible


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

• 40 hrs/wk; standard business hours with some flexibility


Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

• Associates or higher in mechanical, materials, or related

• Five or more years of experience in R&D type environment


Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

• Experience with operating, maintaining, and debugging complex mechanical, thermal and process equipment

• Materials processing experience

• Ability to work independently

• Careful attention to detail

• Organization and tracking of complex experiments and sample processing

• Ability to work with a complex, changing set of requirements

• Good documentation skills

• Lab safety procedures and practice

• Ability to work with a diverse, fast-moving team

• Capable of designing fixtures and experimental equipment
