The primary responsibilities of this role, Deputy Director Data Acquisition and Innovation, are to:


  • Be window to external landscape and trends in digital, analytics and insights;
    •  Connect externally through Industry events and conferences to keep abreast of data and digital landscape across Life Sciences;
    •  Have a pulse on industry developments and innovation.
  • Anchor assessment of all relevant vendors for a more coordinated approach across US Pharma;
    • Conduct proactive scouting of new data sources including qualitative and quantitative assessment tied to business goals and objectives;
    • Have broad ability to link innovation to brand strategy, franchise needs, business performance, functional applications of data and digital;
    • Use own internal knowledge (gained via cross-functional meetings, projects, needs assessments) to evaluate application of vendor to internal business use case;
    • Understand data offerings and assess data and capabilities to offer a recommendations to the organization;
    • Work with Franchise and Business Intelligence (BI) leadership in developing specific business use cases for innovative, shortlisted vendors.
  •  Be responsible for centralized data acquisition and contracting for all commercial data and digital vendors;
    • Develop and negotiate contracts with data vendors to support the Data Strategy for each Franchise;
    • Maintain data assets catalog/inventory across Pharma and advise/educate stakeholders on best utilization of the information assets;
    • Develop launch related data acquisition assessmentpartnering with the Insights Lead and Data Specialists to meet business objectives, IC and reporting;
    • Develop and manage data clauses in Vendor Contracts for Commercial data including terms defining specific fields (mandatory or not), frequency etc. and quality for timeliness, accuracy, completeness.
  • Champion onboarding of new vendors across cross-functional teams and manage relationship;
    • Guide BUs and Market Access on how particular data can be utilized within different BUs and Market Access in support of various commercial objectives and business models;
    • Manage relationship with vendors during acquisition process and onboarding; 
    • Transfer new information asset to Commercial Data Management with clear timelines and scope with the onboarding process.
  • Champion innovation culture and excitement through ongoing communications, education events and vendor presentations;
    • Develop education materials and supporting documentation to enhance data literacy across the organization;
    • Drive data and vendor communications across BI, Commercial Excellence and Franchises with regular updates and status of vendors being explored;
    • Conduct data literacy series and other data related trainings and meetings.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree; 
  • Six or more years of business experience;
  • Three or more years of experience incorporating the following: Project management, BU specific market analysis, business analysis, data understandingand analysis, data management;
  • Strong strategic and leadership abilities in order to form and shape a new capability;
  • Strong experience and knowledge of U.S. specialty pharma commercial data across multiple segments and brands pertaining to Bayer's business.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Degree preferred in Data Science, Economics, Healthcare, Finance, Public Policy, Information Technology, and Business Intelligence;
  • Master's degree.
