Deputy Director, Clinical Support Specialist - Larotrectinib 




The primary responsibilities of this role, Deputy Director, Clinical Support Specialist – Larotrectinib, are to: 


  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop strategic mid-level plan and implementation for national growth focused on driving adoption of diagnostic testing for Tropomyosin Receptor Kinases (TRK) fusion and demand generation of Larotrectinib;
    • Provide Oncology RN engagement plan for key congresses, advisory boards and society meetings focused on driving adoption of diagnostic testing for TRK fusion, awareness of and demand generation for Larotrectinib; 
    • Identify potential barriers to awareness of and usage of diagnostic testing for TRK fusion and on-label brand use of Larotrectinib and act as a key driver in strategic customer and sales planning process;
    • Lead team and business partners as an expert on emerging market trends related to diagnostic testing, TRK fusion and Larotrectinib;
    • Primary Liaison with Brand Teams to develop direction and portfolio tools for nurse educators.
  • Commercial Key Opinion Leader Development:
    • Build strategic, long-term, productive relationships and with RN Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and mid-level providers committed to driving awareness and adoption of diagnostic TRK Fusion testing and usage of Larotrectinib;
    • Develop primary strategy and pull through initiatives for targeted academic centers, hospitals, transplant centers and large accounts focused on increasing adoption of TRK Fusion testing and usage of Larotrectinib.
  • External Business Liaison:
    • Ability to compliantly educate, persuade and articulate favorable position for Bayer Oncology product portfolio;
    • Lead on project development initiatives and provide KOL feedback to Bayer to develop and implement effective strategies surrounding adverse event management.
  • Business Results Orientation:
    • Develop and report key performance Clinical Support Specialist (CSS) and account level metrics to internal stakeholders and develops incentive compensation plan supporting those metrics for CSS team in partnership with National Sales Director.
  • Coaching and Leadership:
    • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback while developing customized development plans for CSS ensuring CSS team is at or above expectations on in-depth clinical knowledge for TRK Fusion and Larotrectinib tumor types resulting in a high performing team;
    • Responsible for national budget development and allocation, succession planning and Performance Management Process (PMP).
  • Educator:
    • Lead in a collaborative team environment while developing strong internal relationships with brand team, sales training, market research, market access, sales leadership, and sales team, serving as an education conduit and Larotrectinib product expert for internal business partners.
    • Will consider candidates from any location within the US.

Required Qualifications:


  • Ten or more years of experience in pharmaceutical industry;
  • Nursing degree;
  • Sales experience;
  • Experience in supervisory or leadership position;
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills;
  • Passionate and self-motivated individual;
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record;
  • Approximately 50 – 70% domestic travel;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree;
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing and coaching a high performing team;
  • Experience with leading teams in an alliance partnerships;
  • Experience with leading teams focused on Academic Centers, Pediatric Centers and large Oncology practices;
  • Experience in launching new products and/or indications;
  • Experience in Oncology and/or diagnostics.
