Data Assistant, Tele-ICU Operations

Summary:

 

The Data Assistant, under the supervision of the eICU Program Operation Director, performs a variety of both complex and routine clinical, clerical, and support duties. This position is PRN/Registry (as needed basis) and covers the night shift.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Assists in the management of patient information in the enhanced Intensive Care Unit (eICU). Verifies patient census and staff assignments at the beginning of shift.

 

  • Effectively utilizes all aspects of eCare Manager to maintain database and assist in communicating accurate patient information to the healthcare team. Maintains patient confidentiality.

 

  • Demonstrates positive communication skills as evidenced by exhibiting communication skills that facilitate interchange between health care workers to provide quality patient care and outcomes.

 

  • Retrieves patient data from hospitals’ systems and enters it in eCare Manager. Maintains patient census, admit, discharge, transfer or change in status. Identifies trending issues on admission and on an ongoing basis reports to eICU RN any trending concerns.

 

  • Updates intakes and outputs (I&Os) and temperatures and verifies medications per eICU protocol.

 

  • Reports clinical, administrative or technical problems using defined reporting process that could result in medical errors, unsafe care or suboptimal communication between the eICU and hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) professionals.

 

  • Participates in 75% of unit based meetings.

 

  • Participates in all eICU growth initiatives. Promotes team building, collaborative relationships and a positive working environment within the eICU and the acute care hospitals.

 

  • Answers the phone with professional etiquette and directs calls in the eICU.

 

 

Education and/or Experience:

                                                               

High School diploma or GED is required.

 

Minimum five years of experience as a nursing assistant or clerical staff in a medical setting is required.

 

Computer Skills:

                                                               

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Programs.
