Position Summary

Performs technical and administrative support for multiple components of the credentialing process. Performs essential data collection/analyses and tracking functions to ensure compliance with risk management principles and regulatory requirements. This position has significant interactions with Medical Staff members, hospital departments, students and various external entities.

Minimum Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and database management

  • Problem solving, analytical skills, creativity, effective oral and written communication and presentation skills; strong interpersonal, negotiation skills required.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Previous administrative support experience, preferred

  • One to two years credentialing experience, preferred

Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )

  • Assist with processing Medical Staff, Allied Health Professional, Clinical Assistants and Student applications in compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. This includes, but is not limited to the primary source verification of information, collection and analysis of information received, and pursuit of additional information as necessary.*

  • Ensures that all documentation meets hospital requirements and is current and accurate. Including but not limited to licensure, certifications, and professional liability insurance for practitioners.*

  • Maintains practitioner records via electronic database and/or paper file following the Centura Health guidelines.*

  • Prioritizes multiple department tasks and projects to ensure they are completed in the required timeframes. Is able to deal with multiple tasks and interruptions with minimal supervision.*

  • Promotes a team environment, willing to assist others, and responds timely to physicians, hospital staff and various external entities. *

  • Triage patient and physician satisfaction concerns in a timely manner, assuring they have been thoroughly addressed.*

  • Communicates to other hospital departments, outside facilities, and agency requests for information about Centura practitioners. *

  • Responsible for confidentiality of all administrative and medical staff matters, including peer review and HIPAA protected information. *
