SUMMARY

Coordinates all operational aspects of the credentialing program and the daily operations of the department and under the direction of the Director, supports the Medical Staff leadership, Department Chairpersons, and Section Chiefs, to appoint qualified applicants for Medical Staff membership and reappoint its members and other health care practitioners in accordance with internal and external policies, bylaws, accrediting and regulatory bodies.     

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.    Assures that the findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the credentials committee actions to appoint or deny applicants or re-appointed practitioners through appropriate medical staff committees, appropriate leadership, the Board of Directors are or implemented in a timely manner.

2.    Manages and analyzes the collection, aggregation, and reporting of primary source verification of credentials and other key indicators such as clinical quality, malpractice history, disciplinary actions, etc. for use in credentialing decision-making, planning, and process improvement activities.  Ensures that aggregate information is reported to Medical Staff leadership, departmental chairpersons, and other Senior Management as overseen by the Director, in a timely manner.

3.    Manages the credentialing module of the medical staff database and in collaboration with the Centralized Verification Office (CVO), applying enhancements as needed and ensuring that staff is appropriately trained.

4.    Coordinates the development and/or revisions of privilege forms and process systems.

5.    Maintains and updates publication and/or distribution of the Medical Staff Directory.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience                                                              

1-3 years experience in health care with an emphasis in medical staff credentialing department

required.  Employees currently in the position who were hired prior to the effective date of

the Job Description are grandfathered and exempt from this requirement.

Associate’s degree or equivalent in business, organization management or health care related filed preferred or minimum of two years experience in health care with emphasis in medical staff credentialing

Computer Skills                                                          

Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.

Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.

 

 

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

Certification by National Association of Medical Staff Administration as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is preferred
