Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRV) is an award-winning 110-bed acute care facility offering modern ORs, state of the art technology (advanced imaging and robotic surgery), and multiple surgical and medical specialties. CNRV is the second largest hospital in the Carilion Clinic health system. We treat more than 30,000 cases per year in our Level III Trauma Center, and our OB/GYN program delivers nearly 1,200 babies annually. Carilion Clinic Saint Albans Hospital, which offers inpatient and outpatient treatment for psychiatric disease states, is located on our campus.
At CNRV, clinical staff pharmacists provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to adult and pediatric patients to assure safe and effective medication therapy. There are many pharmacist-managed protocols in place, allowing pharmacists to practice at a high level. Clinical staff pharmacists divide their time between decentralized clinical shifts and staffing shifts within the main pharmacy. This position will include responsibilities precepting residents within our ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
Experience: Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent Hospital experience is preferred
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: License to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia required within 90 days of hire. During the first 90 days of employment and the licensure application process, pharmacists without a valid license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia may not perform duties restricted to a licensed pharmacist until the license is obtained. If the license is not obtained within 90 days of employment, the employee may be subject to separation from Carilion Clinic.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
* Must possess good leadership, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
* Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
* Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
* Work requires knowledge of general office equipment and procedures including computer and keyboarding skills.
* All pharmacists must complete an Orientation Competency.
