Clinical Pharmacist - Pharmacy Help Desk Supervisor Overview of PositionThe Clinical Pharmacist is a staff clinician and drug information specialist for the Wyoming Medicaid account specializing in prior authorizations including but not limited to physician-administered medication prior authorization (JCode) services as well as covered outpatient drugs. The clinical pharmacist is responsible for preparing clinical reports, coordinating Preferred Drug Lists at the discretion of the State, and/or presenting information to the various boards and committees. The clinical pharmacist also assists the data analysts by providing clinical criteria for reporting as well as maintaining an adequately staffed helpdesk to provide clinical guidance to providers and pharmacies as appropriate. The Clinical Pharmacist will also function as the Medicaid Help Desk Supervisor and is responsible for providing care with clinical calls that require pharmacist discretion and involvement with regards to outpatient drug prior authorizations. This position must be located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?The Clinical Pharmacist serves as the account JCode program specialistThis position serves as the subject matter expert for physician administered medications prior authorizationsThe clinical pharmacist is crucial in providing up-to-date education and information to providers and practitioners to assist in providing prospective guidance pertaining to drugs, including the pricing of procedure coded drugs dispensed by non-pharmacy providers such as practitioner offices and outpatient clinic settingsThe Clinical Pharmacist attends professional association meetings as requiredThe Clinical Pharmacist will manage the clinical call center and other issues related to drug prior authorizations; monitors prior authorization trends and makes clinically and financially sound recommendations to Wyoming Department of HealthThe clinical pharmacist actively supports prospective and retrospective drug utilization review activities, including reportingThe position acquires, analyzes, and maintains information regarding pharmacy benefits management best practices and actively supports the account manager and other clinical account managementWhat are the requirements needed for this position?The Clinical Pharmacist must be a registered pharmacist licensed in Wyoming in good standingMust have extensive knowledge of claims processing systems (including Medicaid) and drug information systemsMust be able to work out of Cheyenne, WyomingWhat other skills/experience would be helpful to have?Three (3) years of experience with government or private sector health care payer preferred but not requiredPrevious clinical call center experience with large healthcare payer preferred, but not requiredKnowledge of hospital, home infusion, and long-term care pharmacy practices preferredPharm.D.
