Description
Responsible for coordinating pharmaceutical activities. Develops educational and training programs for pharmacy, pharmacy residents, students, nurses, and physicians.

+ Aid Pharmacy Services in planning and developing new services, and maintaining current services for assigned practice areas.

+ Participate in training and in-service educational programs for staff pharmacists, pharmacy residents, students, nurses, and physicians.

+ Participate in developing and maintaining pharmacist's monitoring guidelines for patients' drug therapy.

+ Prepare educational Newsletters and Bulletins for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals.

+ Develop and coordinates special activities for pharmacy residents and students.

+ Participate routinely in patient/physician rounds in order to contribute improved drug therapy.

+ Perform other staff pharmacist's functions as required.

Education:

+ Degree in Pharmacy from an approved College of Pharmacy.

+ Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

+ Minimum two (2) years of experience as a hospital pharmacist or have completed a hospital pharmacy residency.

+ Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a clinical setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

+ Maintain awareness of latest trends in pharmacy practice by reading pharmaceutical and related literature.

+ Participates in professional continuing educational programs.

+ Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.

Licenses, Certifications:

+ Registered as a Licensed Pharmacist in the State of New York.

+ Active member of the New York Council of Hospital Pharmacists and the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists.

Physical Requirements:

+ Consistent with that necessary to work in a variety of patient care and office settings.

+ Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.

+ Position will be required to stoop, bens, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
