Responsibilities & Requirements

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Receives drug information inquiries from various clinicians
* Researches different sources including the literature, the drug manufacturer, subject matter experts, and other sources to answer various inquires.
* Acts as a subject matter expert on drug use best practices
* Works the site clinical pharmacy coordinators, clinical pharmacists, and pharmacy residency coordinators for optimizing medication effectiveness
* Maintains online resource of pharmacy information including therapeutic interchanges, polices/procedures, drug-drug interactions, and national
* Responsible for working with medical and clinical pharmacy staff to launching clinical initiatives designed to improve overall patient care and managing drug expense throughout the network
* Serves as a resource to the organization and medical staff on clinical pharmacy matters
* Assists in the development and review of medication-use pharmacy and hospital- and system-level policies, and their implementation
* Guides the design, implementation, and maintenance of clinical pharmacy initiatives within the organization
* Monitors the external environment for best practices and evaluates them for implementation in the organization
* Provides ongoing pharmacy education for pharmacy staff and other health care professionals
* Facilitates availability of educational programs and materials to improve clinical outcomes and regulatory compliance
* Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary hospital, health system, and regional committees related to emergency medications, drug shortages, adverse events, medication errors, policy review, technology, safe medication use, and patient safety
* Analyzes current clinical pharmacy data that can be used to improve overall medication value and effectiveness.
* Works with state colleges of pharmacy for promoting the student and pharmacy residency experience.
* Responsible for working with medical and clinical pharmacy staff to launching clinical initiatives designed to improve overall patient care and managing drug expense throughout the network

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy

PGY1 Pharmacy residency preferred

Skills and Experience:

Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

Graduate with a Pharm D. degree

Completed residency in clinical pharmacy - Preferred

Over 5 years' experience working as a clinical pharmacist

Licensed as, or eligible to be, a registered pharmacist in the State of Ohio.

Current knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing pharmacists

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Position Qualifications:• PGY-2 in Drug Information pharmacy residency preferred• 3 years of combined in Drug Information pharmacy experience
