Overview

The Clinical Informatics Pharmacist works in the build, implementation, and maintenance of automation and technology to optimize pharmacy practice, pharmacy systems, and the medication-use process. Specializes in the medication process, from ordering to administration, and is responsible for effective process design, development, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record and Clinical Decision Support. Supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as the resource for requests related to EMR and pharmacy system changes and additions. Provides EMR-related staff education/training and assist with precepting of pharmacy residents. This posotions area of focus will be on research medications, workflows and processes.

This position could be 2/3 days remote after the initial training period during which time it will be fully on-site. Employees must reside in MA, NH or RI

Responsibilities

Ensures all medication lists in the clinic pharmacy dispensing system are kept up to date. Manages the medication verification process for pharmacy. Works in the build, implementation, integration, and maintenance of automation and technology to assure safe and appropriate use of medications. Assures appropriate testing of all integrated applications. Ensures that appropriate levels of testing and operational workflows are appropriately considered and evaluated prior to implementation of software changes. Participates in development, monitoring, and evaluation of decision support for continuous improvement, particularly for medications. Partners with clinicians to identify and facilitate advanced clinical decision support implementation within the electronic medical record in order to meet clinical goals. Participates in functional testing for human factors issues before and after system upgrades and improvements. Promotes effective communication concerning medication use applications. Assumes responsibility for the timely dissemination of information as related to pharmacy automation and technology. Participates as a member of interdepartmental committees when requested and imparts knowledge related to pharmacy automation and technology. Ensures that medication related systems support compliance with Joint Commission, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services, and recognized pharmacy practice standards. Provides support for pharmacy residency research activities. Provides support to medical staff for drug utilization data gathering and analysis. Supports drug data analysis for Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities. Provides support for internal audits. Creates and modifies reports to support pharmacy related activities Assists pharmacy leadership in the advancement of pharmacy automation and technology. Helps develop and facilitate the implementation of goals and objectives for the advancement of automation technology in the Department of Pharmacy. Participates in quality projects and on assigned committees to provide expertise on using the clinical information system to achieve goals. Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy
* An advanced degree related to specialty practice or Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Oncology Pharmacy certification
* 5 years of hospital pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or clinical trial research experience with at least 4 years in area of specialty. Residency or fellowship preferred.
* 3 years of clinical pharmacy informatics experience required
* Licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or obtained within first six months of employment. Must complete 15 continuing education credits per year to maintain licensure
* Epic Willow Rx certification required or obtained within first six months of employment
* Epic Clarity Data Model - Willow certification preferred
* Epic Beacon certification preferred
