Overview Part time schedule working a day/evening shift (rotation). Working every other weekend. Some holiday coverage. POSITION SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician, Certified, assists pharmacists in ensuring medications are promptly, accurately and safely dispensed, delivered, charged and credited. Prepares and labels medications to match orders. Maintains records related to drug use and charges. This position requires the Technician to be proficient in both dispensing oral medications and in preparation of I.V. solutions. Duties may vary by assigned area or shift. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. 1 year experience in health care setting. Pharmacy Technician in Illinois or Michigan (dependent on location of employment). Pharmacy Technician Certification validated by PTCB or National Healthcareer (ExCPT). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1 year pharmacy experience. Working knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology. Working knowledge in mixing solutions and preparing medications using aseptic technique skills. Working knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psycho-social needs of neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Working knowledge of arithmetic calculations at a level normally acquired through completion of high school.
