Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a member of the Plastic Surgery team who assists and works directly with physicians and other health professionals in the outpatient clinics.  The CMA will assist patient preparation during the clinic visit while ensuring clinic hours run smoothly without delay or issues. The CMA will work at the main hospital and must be able to travel to the Pennsylvania and New Jersey satellite office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Patient Care including but not limited to – escorting patients from waiting area to exam rooms.  Obtaining patient height, weight and vitals.  Document patient information into EMR as appropriate.  Obtain and electronically store any imaging.
  • Monitoring of the day to day activity of clinic flow.
  • Assist other staff to address and resolve patient/family, provider and staff clinic flow issues. 
  • Maintain patient exam rooms.  Clean rooms after each patient, removing any instruments or materials. 
  • Replace exam table paper.  Restock rooms and other supplies as needed.
  • Transports cultures to the lab and specimens to pathology.
  • For Orthopedics specifically – assist in cast room removing and applying casts, removing sutures, dispensing DME.

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

CPR and Medical Assistant Certificate

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: High School diploma /GED. Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant Program


Required Experience: One year of experience as an MA in a healthcare setting, preferably in pediatrics

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Preferred Experience: One year of experience as an MA in pediatrics

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills; the ability to maintain composure when faced with stressful situations.
