Job Title: Oncology Research Scientist
Your role:
We have an opening for a Cancer Research Scientist to join our Translational Biomarker Research group at the client Research and Development Institute in The successful candidate will conduct cancer cell biology and molecular biology assays to better understand the mechanism of action and biomarkers for several that are being developed. This laboratory-based position offers the opportunity for a talented scientist to work at the forefront of cancer research within a research-based discovery company. In this role, the candidate is expected to develop and conduct cellular and molecular assays, such as cell signaling assays, cell proliferation assays and a variety of biomarker assays.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 3+ years' experience in aseptic techniques in handling mammalian cultures or cancer cell lines.
• Experience with a variety of standard molecular and cell biological techniques such as western blotting, FACS, ELISA, qRT-PCR, cell proliferation assays.
• Ability to prepare or assist in the development of experimental procedures, protocols and SOPs.
• Ability to execute experiments and scientific tasks with independence, curiosity and scientific rigor. Strong sense of responsibility and ownership of experiments and results.
• Ability to interpret data, prepare slides and present results in a small lab meeting setting.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and GraphPad PRISM.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact effectively in a team-oriented research environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's or PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 1+ years' experience in cancer research in a biotech or pharmaceutical company is preferred.
• Experience with apoptosis assays and CRISPR and gene knockout techniques is beneficial.
• Experience with cell microscopy, Incucyte live cell imaging or other high content cell image analysis instrumentation is beneficial.
• Ability to analyze cellular data using FACS data using FlowJo.
