The Associate Director- Advanced Analytics is a client facing position that is responsible for providing Account Management oversight and IT leadership across the global Finance organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with global teams operating in a fast paced environment to deliver significant and measurable value to Merck via the use of advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and leading edge financial reporting capabilities. This role will act as the single point of accountability for all day-to-day IT related matters related to advanced analytics and financial reporting.

The key responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Provide Account management oversight for the Finance organization with regard to advanced analytics and financial reporting.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact to the client for all IT activities related to advanced analytics and financial reporting.
  • Participate in overall business planning, bring current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems as related to machine learning, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence.
  • Act as a credible change agent to align the client IT portfolio with the overall business strategy.
  • Facilitate demand aggregation and prioritization of technology initiatives.
  • Manage the IT spend and strive to achieve synergies using a continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Accountable for the successful realization of all IT and automation projects.
  • Act as the focal point for interactions and escalations with all other IT functions/platforms/services.
  • Contribute to the development and drive execution of the global IT strategy.
  • Enable the Finance transformation while working across key roles in both IT and Finance.
  • Manage IT demand, IT portfolio planning, forecasts and updates.
  • Travel up to 15% of the time, including significant international travel.


  • B.S. in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Sciences, or related field.


  • A minimum of six (6) years leadership experience in Information Technology role.
  • End to end process view that includes an understanding of how information flows through the enterprise and the importance of managing information as a corporate asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and deploying IT solutions.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship skills along with high personal integrity, credibility, and energy.
  • Results-orientation with the proven ability to develop plans and implement them.
  • Proven track record of analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Able to demonstrate the Merck Leadership Principles and Enterprise Leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English


  • Prior experience/understanding of financial concepts and data is desired.
  • Experience working with a diverse team that spans multiple time zones.
  • Prior experience with data sciences and/or artificial intelligence capabilities.
