Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  • Work closely with the US Market Lead, New Products, Global Market Access, CORE and the Global Business Development teams to provide payer input into new product planning and business development for both Primary Care and Hospital Specialty products. 
    • Develop and inform long range operating forecasts based on different payer access assumptions in the US market
    • Obtain market research and/or payer insights to inform timing and quality of access
    • Perform sensitivity analyses for variables such as different price points, discounts, and different promotable indications. 
    • Collaborate with vendors to obtain insights on new disease categories, payment models, and customer segments.
    • Develop payer customer segment strategy and promotional initiatives for all US payer customer segments (health plan, PBM, Medicaid, Medicare, federal, pharmacy and hospital) 
    • Develop early potential payer value propositions, pricing and contracting strategies
    • Support appropriate pull-through activities and payer related solutions for field sales 
  • Prepare, present, and support recommendations to internal decision makers
  • Support US Finance in development of segment level forecasts in support of brand forecast
  • Work with US Outcomes research to develop outcome research plans in support of the payer value proposition
  • Prepare business to business presentations incorporating the new FDAMA 114 guidance 



  •  BS, or BA degree
  • Minimum of (7) years healthcare industry experience (includes experience in a Customer facing or marketing/strategy roles, in addition to roles such as Market Research)
  • Demonstrated understanding of US healthcare trends and policy issues and their potential impact upon Merck business opportunities
  • Knowledge of payer business models and Medicare Advantage in particular.
  • Financial acumen, including background in financial modeling, evaluation of terms/deal structures, and strategies for value creation

  • MBA
  • Experience in customer facing or marketing experience (e.g., customer management, account management or marketing).
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem solving, analytical critical thinking and planning skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Strategic, results-driven leader with strong organizational skills
