Job Description Purpose
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure coordinated mid - long range strategic market development plans and proper execution of critical corresponding projects within the Obesity Business Unit. Accountable for coordinating across the business unit and Global counterparts to deliver efficient consolidated project plan, ultimately maximizing the number of stakeholders interested in treating Obesity effectively. Will include project management, analysis to drive decision making and liaises with a broad number of internal and external stakeholders.

Reports to the Senior Director, Obesity Management. Works closely with many cross-functional stakeholders including Public Affairs, Medical Affairs and Operations, Managed Markets, Healthcare Professional (HCP) and Patient Marketing, (Global and U.S.) to seek input into strategy and gain development plan alignment. Other internal relationships include colleagues in Marketing, Medical, Sales, Commerical Operations and Execution (CO&E), Regulatory, Legal, Global Marketing and Global Medical. External relationships include relations with professional services vendors, key thought leaders and other organizations for the therapy area.

Essential Functions
Fiscal/Investment: Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to. Ensures projects costs stays within budget. Evaluates project impact vs investment ROI. Partners with Marketing Effectiveness team to develop and oversee implementation of key metrics (ROI / Impact).

Market Development Strategic Planning and Execution: Coordinates and leads the development of the U.S. Obesity 10 year Strategic Planning Process. Works directly with Global counterparts to deliver and manage plan process. Coordinates and leads development of the U.S. Obesity 1 – 3 year annual business planning process. Coordinates and leads development of the U.S. Obesity 5 year market development plan. Develops strategic approach to new business areas and/or indications. Project manages initiatives related to patient-centered Market Development and/or Strategic Planning Process (SPP). Determines key metrics, tracking and timelines/deliverables. Regularly reviews current program progress to ensure goals are on track. Maximizes investment impact and understands return on investment (ROI) concepts to ensure program effectiveness. Identifies strategic and tactical gaps and works diligently to address them. Ensures timely execution and follow-up, meets deadlines, prioritizes projects and time, anticipates problems and roadblocks to avoid crisis management. Consolidates Obesity Management insights including ad boards, market research and KOL discussions. Develops and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders and continually seeks intelligence. Actively participates in relevant professional meetings and conferences. Develops relationships with and receives commitment from relevant Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) and Novo Nordisk A/S departments to ensure the successful execution of strategies. Determines needs from external suppliers and agencies and coordinates involved external suppliers and agencies. Develops strong relationships and partners with Medical Affairs, Managed Markets, Public Affairs and other corporate stakeholders within NNI and Global to ensure alignment and leverage. Participates in teams and works cross-functionally to integrate all plans and strategies and ensure strategic alignment.

Physical Requirements
30-40% overnight travel required.

* An M.B.A. degree or equivalent experience required.
* 8+ years of relevant inline marketing, new product commercialization, and/or internal or external consulting firm experience, demonstrating a steady career progression with increasing roles of responsibility.
* Knowledge of the obesity therapeutic area preferred.
* Proven track record of effective strategic planning, execution and follow up.
* Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical marketplace, especially in therapeutic areas that were non-existent or underdeveloped.
* Strong ability to work on cross-functional teams. Extensive knowledge and experience in designing and implementing market development plans. Strong presentation and communication skills.
