We are looking for an experienced Animal Care Technician for our Avian site located in Storrs. 


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand & walk.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic sanitation chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to odors
  • Assisting the Animal Products Manager in the day to day operations of the Storrs facility, work for Storrs Lab Departments.
  • Feeding & general care of birds
  • Bird receipt, inoculations, blood testing, final bleeds
  • Housekeeping duties
  • Recycling of FAPP rooms
  • Working with isolators as needed
  • Basic maintenance of FAPP rooms
  • Working at other Connecticut sites as needed
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
  • Weekends and or holidays as needed
