Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position:

Define Regional Logistics strategies linked to the business strategies and regional supply chain strategies for Corning Optical Communications (COC) 

Location Requirements: This position can be based out of the following locations: Keller, TX, McAllen, TX or Reynosa, Mexico 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive deployment: Set clear, well understood goals and objectives for success. 
  • Evaluate and Recommend how to optimize the global capacity, capability, and cost opportunities within logistics networks to meet customer and delivery goals. 
  • Maximize scalability, and adaptability to change, including market and business needs. 
  • Ensure strategic alignment to product life-cycle. 
  • Work collaboratively with Planning, Sourcing, CM, Enable, and manufacturing management throughout the globe in the development of accurate operational plans for logistics 
  • Create Vision for optimized Logistics and Production footprint to optimize the end to end SC Network and ensure execution and implementation based on Business and Customer Requirements 
  • Manage the development and approval of Logistic systems roadmap in conjunction with Enable organization. 
  • Responsible for Best Practice sharing and communication for processes, systems, data, and reporting capabilities 
  • Work collaboratively with other regions, global, and plant resources to: Define and communicate the local, regional, and global roles and responsibilities to deliver the delivery targets, Highlight areas to global resources: excess capacity and capacity shortages that impact cost and delivery, Develop and maintain regional/plant warehouse capacity models which feed the global models
  • Partner with cross functional stakeholders to ensure optimal balance between customer service levels, inventory and asset utilization 
  • Develop long term sustainable relationships with 3PLs and transportation providers 
  • Ensure proper people development plans are in place, led by Corning Values


  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical, Business or Supply chain) 
  • Minimum of 10 years in Supply Chain of which; Minimum of 7 years’ experience with transportation, warehousing, and/or trade compliance 
  • Global work experience, working across regions and cultures. 
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. 
  • Professional qualifications in logistics, supply chain management, or operations 
  • Experience in managing a team of supply chain professionals
  • Experience in project management and superior organization skills 
  • Minimum 25 % travel time

Desired Experiences: 

  • Master’s in business or supply chain 
  • Supply Chain / APICS certification 
  • Multi-lingual or ex-pat experience 
  • LEAN and/or six Sigma certification or equivalent experience 
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record of influencing a variety of key stakeholders to deliver results 
  • Ability to establish direction, work across multiple work streams, create strategy, and execute 
  • A leader in impacting performance and delivery of internal service 
  • Proven leadership and change management skills 
  • Assertive with a strong results orientation
