Essential Functions:

  • Primary role of associate is to research and identify open Accounts Receivable (AR) on claims where Pharmerica is expecting reimbursement.  Associate may need to investigate and determine why claims have not been paid or have been recouped by a payor.
  • Work with third party insurance payers of prescription drug benefits (I.e. Medicare Part D, Commercial Insurance, State Medicaid Plans and manual bill payors – i.e. auto, workman’s comp and hospice), to secure payment.
  • Work with internal and external customers to resolve assigned portfolio of accounts by collecting the balance due or by taking other action, as appropriate.
  • Communicate with payors via the telephone, email or on-line websites to gain claim status information, obtain payment details or obtain documentation to identify claims that may have been recouped due to Pharmacy or internal audits.
  • Minimize financial exposure and risk for the company with underperforming or non-complaint payers.
  • Manage assigned aging balances and report to management any issues that may result in uncollected revenue.
  • Perform any necessary variances and write-off’s for review.
  • Maintain and accurately report all reconciliation activity on monthly aging spreadsheets.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Learning Experience

  • Required: High School graduate, GED
  • Desired: Associates degree, 4 year college or technical degree

Work Experience

  • Required: 1 year claims reconciliation and/or collections experience
  • Desired: Third Party Billing or collections/billing experience in the healthcare industry,  AS-400 computer experience.


  • Required: Microsoft Suite Package Experience (Basic Level)
  • Desired: AS400 Computer Systems Experience, typing skills and Excel Spreadsheet experience
